AT Reuse/ CARAT

Project CARAT (Coordinating & Assisting the Reuse of Assistive Technology) supports the reuse of assistive technology that is no longer needed or used by its original owner and is acquired by a new owner at no cost.

Our inventory of equipment changes daily. If we do not have items you need, please check back often. We have a steady demand for shower chairs/benches and manual wheelchairs. If you have any of these items to donate contact us today! To search for items we currently have available, visit the KY AT Locator website or contact the CARAT site nearest you.

If you have an item you need or would like to donate an item no longer used, please complete one of the forms above. Someone from our core team will contact you within three business days to respond to your request.

Please note that we reserve the right to request a prescription in order to process an equipment request, if there are concerns as to whether or not an item is appropriate.

The goal of Project CARAT is to make Assistive Technology and Durable Medical Equipment more accessible to those who need it in underserved areas of Kentucky. To make this happen, Project CARAT is partnering with agencies across the state. We take donated equipment, clean it, make repairs if needed, and then redistribute it to people who need it. If you live in Kentucky and need equipment, or have equipment you’d like to donate, please let us know.

To date, project CARAT has provided 12,349 assistive technology/durable medical equipment items valued at over $3,063,955 (estimated MRSP) to 3,276 individuals with disabilities
